Purpose
This blog publishes evidence-based content on ophthalmology, clinical research methodology,
and medical artificial intelligence. Our mission is to provide clinicians, researchers, and
informed readers with accurate, well-sourced information grounded in current scientific evidence.
Author & Review Process
All content is written by David Kim, Ph.D., a clinical researcher with active experience in
ophthalmology research and clinical studies.
For medical and scientific claims, our editorial standards include:
Research Foundation
- All medical claims are grounded in peer-reviewed literature, clinical guidelines, or established
scientific consensus - Evidence sources include: systematic reviews, meta-analyses, randomized controlled trials,
clinical guidelines from major societies, and established protocols - When evidence is limited or emerging, this distinction is made explicitly
Evidence Grading
We distinguish clearly between:
- Established evidence: supported by robust clinical trials and/or major clinical guidelines
- Moderate evidence: supported by multiple studies or guideline recommendations with some limitations
- Early/exploratory evidence: preliminary findings, case reports, or early-phase research
- Hypothesis/future direction: theoretical discussion or areas requiring further validation
Language Standards
We avoid language that overstates evidence strength:
- Terms like “groundbreaking,” “revolutionary,” or “game-changing” are used only when supported
by high-level evidence - Preferred language: “emerging approach,” “shows early promise,” “evidence remains limited,”
“may improve,” “requires further validation” - All medical content is framed as educational information, not medical advice
Article Requirements
Each article includes:
- Author name and credentials
- Publication date and last review date
- Clear topic focus and search intent
- For medical claims: minimum 3 authoritative references
- Internal links to related content
- Appropriate category assignment
- Medical disclaimer (where applicable)
Updates & Corrections
- Articles are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect new evidence
- Significant updates are noted with update dates
- Factual errors are corrected promptly with dated corrections notes (see Corrections Policy)
Content Standards
- Original analysis and commentary grounded in peer-reviewed literature
- Side-by-side evidence comparisons when addressing clinical choices
- Visual explainers prioritized over generic prose
- No unsupported superlatives or overstated claims
What We Do Not Publish
- Personal medical advice for specific individuals
- Content without clear evidence support
- Sponsored content without clear disclosure
- Content that prioritizes commercial interest over accuracy
